Welcome to another wonderful summer in Buffalo, and welcome to another exciting season of free outdoor theatre produced by Shakespeare in Delaware Park, proudly entering our 34th year. We are well underway preparing for this season’s offerings, The Tempest (June 18 – July 12) and Julius Caesar (July 23 – Aug 16).

In the last few months, we have begun to see our customary funders understandably tighten their belts. This will cause a potentially significant shortfall in our revenues for the year. Accordingly, we are doing all we can to tighten our own belts and to seek out new institutional resources. And we are also turning to you. Your membership dollars are crucial to helping us remain one of Buffalo’s "must see" summer events accessible to all.

We know times are tough for everyone. But it is in such times that we need more than ever to be uplifted, inspired, consoled, entertained and even changed. The timeless works of William Shakespeare can do all these things, touching us with their universal appeal and basic human truths. Where else in Western New York can you picnic with friends, enjoy a balmy summer evening in a beautifully landscaped historical park, and be moved to laughter and tears, gasps or rapt silence as part of the communal experience only live theatre offers all for free?
